The 4th Annual Latam Founders Awards Gala will be held on May 29th 2017 in Sao Paulo, Brazil in partnership with Vtex Day with sponsors Baptista Luz Advogados and Foley+Lardner. This elite awards ceremony recognizes the people, technology, and organizations that help positively transform Latin America. The exclusive all-night event is the only awards ceremony where the industry’s leaders choose the nominees and winners. This is THE event where top CEO's, Founders, VCs, PE, Partners, Country Managers, Service Providers, Influencers and Global Connectors fly in from around the world to meet each other and develop strong, lasting business relationships to accelerate each others growth. Conversations started at this event have led to lasting business-to-business and business-to-investor relationships, strategic partnerships, and overall company growth.
Echoing that sentiment, Forbes notes, “This is the event of the year for everyone in the technology world with a focus on Latin America.” According to TechCrunch, reporting on the 2016 Latam Founders Awards Gala, “Camera crews from all of Brazil’s major television stations were there to cover what Brazil’s leading business magazine, EXAME, dubbed the ‘Oscar for Startups.’”
Past award winners have gone on to achieve great success. The Most Innovative Company of 2015 and Best B2C Company of 2016, Nubank, went on to raise $30 million in a series B round just three months after the gala, followed by multiple successful financing rounds, including $52M last January, a $56M debt financing round from Goldman Sachs, and a $80M series D round from DST Global. Another successful gala winner, GuiaBolso, raised a $7M series B just five months after winning the award for Best B2C Company. GuiaBolso was also the first company to raise money from the IFC for their series C round at $60M. iFood who received the award for Best B2C Company in 2015 has since raised Series F round in funding totaling at $91.86M and has made 3 acquisitions.
